About Us
Tabbe designs is a ready to wear brand, about the negative and positive stimuli in the world and how it affects someone both internally and externally. This collection was created through research aimed at representing people’s emotions and experiences, while aiding in producing a more inclusive and freeing environment. Created in 2023 by fashion designer Talia abbe, the brand originated during covid-19 to try and end the stigma with mental health. In 2020, Talia Abbe, like many others, struggled a lot with her mental health being inside all the time. Tabbe designs is meant to help people cope with their emotions.
BIO: Talia Abbe, a native of New York, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Textile and Fashion Design with a certificate in Entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She then pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Talia's personal struggles with mental health inspired her to make a positive impact on others facing similar challenges. Her work is centered around creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. While Cognitive Abstraction influences her prints, her voluminous designs and vibrant color palettes exude child-like playfulness.
COLLECTION: “Bubble Wrap” explores the positive and negative stimuli of an environment and how that impacts an individual’s mental health. Cartoon-like shapes and neon colors derived from brain scans juxtapose the highs and lows of a manic episode. Areas where stressors affect the body are symbolically mapped with Latex– tight tailoring and bubble shapes coexist in a garment to show anxiety’s smothering nature- its buildup and its release. This collection’s hyperbolic visuals seek to destigmatize mental health through humor and playfulness.
